CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
Minimal care needed. Hang indoors away from direct sunlight. Water when convenient to you. Lichens can be misted with water 1-2 times per day. Be sure to allow lichens to dry completely between waterings. Lichens can go months without water if needed. They will enter a dormant state. remaining alive and green.

WHY ARE LICHENS SO SPECIAL??
They are a bizarre and complex life form. They are in that non-plant, non-animal category. These unusual creatures are a combination of two organisms living intimately together as one. They are a partnership between a fungus and an algae, each providing for the other. The fungal filaments provide the structure and shape of the lichen while living among these are the algae cells which provide food. Lichens are slow growing and long lived with over 18,000 species!
